Inspiration - Alice X. Zhang

I've become more and more interested in digital illustration lately, and have just purchased a Wacom tablet to start doing digital work myself.

There are a ton of really amazing digital artists out there, but right now I think my favorite is Alice X. Zhang.

Her work is very painterly and has a lot of great colors and lighting.

Here are some of my favorite paintings of hers:

You can check out more of Alice X. Zhang's work on her website or Deviant Art page.

Paint Palette - Ombré Sky

sources: photo is mine, canvas texture, photoshop paint brushes

The clouds outside my window were amazing this morning, so I took a picture and thought it would make a great color palette post. I especially like how the sky has an ombré effect to it, so I did that with the colors as well.

The photo kind of reminds me of these ombré tights, which I think are pretty fantastic.

What do you think? Are you a fan of the ombré trend?

Inspiration - Watercolor Walls

How amazing are these watercolor walls? I would love to live in a room with walls like this!

The room was designed by interior designer Eileen Kathryn Boyd, the photos are from her site here.

Inspiration - Color Palette

It's rainy and gloomy here in SF, and supposed to stay that way for almost a week. So here are some in-your-face, cheerful spring colors for you!

I think that coral color is beautiful, what do you think?

Inspiration - Color Palette

Howdy! Hope you had a good weekend. I just got back from Monterey last night and am already headed off to Arizona for a little trip.

I hope to paint some desert scenes while I'm there, so here's some color inspiration from the desert.

Gotta get packing, have a great day!

Inspiration - Patterns

(Sources from top: one, two, three, four)

Here's some pattern inspiration for your Wednesday. I was just choosing patterns I liked and I realized 3/4ths of them had triangles, haha. Makes sense cause geometrics are pretty popular right now.
