This week's Illustration Friday topic is "carry." I had a bunch of thoughts for this one, I went with the teacups because stacked teacups always seem beautiful to me. The bird idea came to me as I was painting.
I did two things with this digital painting that make me uncomfortable, I included a person and went with a more "naive" style than a realistic one. I also played around a bit more with my digital techniques.
Overall I like the whimsical quality of this one, and I'm glad I went outside of my own boundaries. I just have to remember that I'm not going to get better without practicing drawing people (duh!) and I should get over it not looking "perfect."
Thanks for visiting, I hope you're having a great week!
looks good to me. waitresses do carry stacks quite well. most of them anyway!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Yeah what a skill to have!
DeleteVery cute! I like her expression. Birds and teacups are always charming :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I think so too :0)
DeleteIt's very nice! I love the colors and all the different patterns on the teacups. I do not do any digital art at all...and am impressed with the hand drawn quality in this. Your description of your work sounds exactly the same as the kind of things I think about my art and my boundaries and experimenting with styles...so you are definitely not alone! Keep it up, because I really like it!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Lets both keep practicing the hard stuff :0)
DeleteI love the teacups. I have no objections to the way you illustrated the girl. Though I wish it was cropped tighter on her and the cups.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I realized I should have cropped in on her after I had done the birds and I didn't want to lose them. Oh well next time I'll have to think about my composition more.
